VO2 Max
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the VO2 Max app (“the App”, “we”,
“us”) handles your information. The App is published by Terminus Labs. We designed
it to be private by default: your health data stays on your device and is
never sent to us or anyone else.
The short version
- The App reads health data from Apple Health (HealthKit) only with your permission.
- That data is used only on your device to show your cardio-fitness metrics, trends, and projections.
- We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share your health data. We have no servers that receive it.
- We do not use any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.
- There are no accounts and no sign-in.
Health data we access
With your explicit authorization, the App reads the following from Apple Health to display
and analyze your cardiovascular fitness:
- VO₂ max (cardio fitness) and low cardio-fitness notifications
- Heart rate, resting heart rate, walking heart rate, and heart-rate variability (HRV)
- Respiratory rate
- Workouts and related heart-rate samples
- Body mass (weight) and height
- Date of birth and biological sex (to compare your metrics against age- and sex-based reference standards, and to compute your “fitness age”)
You choose which of these the App may read, and you can change or revoke access at any time
in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → VO2 Max.
How your data is used
All processing happens locally on your iPhone and Apple Watch. The App reads
your Apple Health data to show your current values and percentile vs. population reference data,
calculate trends, your “fitness age”, and forward projections, and to guide and
track workouts. Your health data is not used for advertising, marketing, data
mining, or any purpose other than providing the App’s features to you, consistent with
Apple’s HealthKit requirements.
Data sharing and storage
- We do not have a backend. The App does not transmit your health data off your device to us or to any third party.
- Health data read from Apple Health remains within Apple Health and on your device. The App keeps a working copy only to display and compute your metrics, plus your own preferences and challenge plans.
- Data may sync between your own iPhone and your own Apple Watch using Apple’s on-device connectivity, and is stored in your iCloud only if you have iCloud enabled — governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not ours.
- We never sell or share your health data.
Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your choices
- Grant or revoke Health access any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → VO2 Max.
- Deleting the App removes its on-device app data. Your Apple Health data is unaffected.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a
new “Last updated” date.
